Let it Snow (2 Viewers)

A very weird snow storm. It snows a bit and then stops for a few hours. Then snows some more and repeats the process. We have about 6 or more inches with another 6 or so expected by tomorrow.

That's exactly how I felt about this storm. Its not like any nor'easter I have ever seen. Its slow and steady, not really hitting hard at any point, but laying down a little bit per hour over a couple of days. So far we have about 5-6 inches on the ground, but if this keeps up until tomorrow morning we might make it to 12 inches.

My 3 yo, 5 yo and 17 week old puppy had a lot of fun yesterday. Hopefully will get some more soft stuff later today. Just sleet and freezing rain right now.

Yesterday morning it was the best snowball snow I can remember in a long time. It was fun even with both my daughters ganging up on me.

We are up to about 10 inches, and here are some photos of my personal wolf-pack (3 Siberian Huskies and a Pomsky) enjoying their natural habitat:

It was snowing like the end of times here a couple hours ago. My son and I were trying to shovel the driveway like a scene out of The Shining. At one point he was laying on his back yelling "we need help." I told him help was for the weak.

Maryland we got about 3 or so by this morning. Now starting to snow again, harder, maybe have another 3 plus. Easy snowblower activity here. The internet is a wonderful thing, about 15 years ago, I took an old Snapper Snowblower out of my parents garage that was circa 1980. The engine was fine. Replaced everything else thanks to the internet. Now, has seen use in 2 years. Got it out Saturday, plugged in the "electric Starter" (Old tech, no battery), fired up in 3 secs. Waited an hour, used pull start, no problem. Amazing simplistic machine!

Here south central Wisconsin we have had several winter storms, three of which dropped 5-6 inches each. We have about 20" on the ground at this point. Temperatures remain n too cold for any significant melt. Bourbon 🥃 Old Fashioneds are tasting very good.

Honestly, I hate the snow, don't know how you do it, we will be retiring South for sure. I will not miss one darn flake! If I get too hot, very simple to go inside and turn on the A/C!

Plus you can fish for Grouper year round in Central FL!

Funny, we couldn't wait to leave Tampa when I retired from the USAF. Too humid and really missed the change of seasons, especially autumn. To each his own. :salute:: Chris

Nearly 30cm of snow here in Atlantic Canada today.

They predicted initially 4 to 8 inches here in Taunton MA; then they ramped it up to 8 to 14 inches................

We got about maybe 2 inches, then it turned to rain.

I saw a map of the Northeast today; southern MA, all of RI and the Eastern half of CT were green, ie, very little snow.............Eastern PA, all of NJ, NY, VT, NH and ME were blue, all snow, a lot of parts purple meaning over a foot.

It seems like where I am, when winter storms come across the country, we get spared, but when they come up the coast, we get clobbered.

We ended up with 10-12 inches. The one thing they do well in PA is clear the roads. I lived in VA for a while and they were a complete disaster. Two inches of snow and the place ground to a halt but in PA they do clean up like champs.

Same here in MA, they do a tremendous job, which is why I'll never in my life understand why people stampede to the grocery store and stock up like they are going to be trapped in their houses for a week.

Chris,

For me there are of course other reasons than the weather, but honestly, one season I will never miss is Winter! Everyone else can gladly have it!!

Although, like I said, the snow blower project from 15 years ago was a personal challenge and probably the best investment I ever made! For literally about 200 I rebuilt the entire thing and it has come in quite handy. The worst part was removing the ball bearings for the auger. Holy Smokes, I thought I was sunk at that point as it was basically pry bar time. All in all , came back together and I still can't get over the availability still on these parts. I guess simplicity wins the long game over technology! End of day my 200 investment has paid off over about 20 years, that's pretty good amortization thus far and life is about 40 total years. It will be interesting to see how much longer it lasts, hopefully till I move from Maryland!!

As a native of The Old Line State I think I may have some insight into your reasoning. :wink2: We moved to Kentucky over 35 yrs ago and it worked out perfectly for us. Hope you have a similar experience when you relocate. Chris

We have a wind chill advisory here for tonight through tomorrow morning. Predicting -30°f wind chill. Next 8 days forecast is for below 0°f weather with wind chills much colder. Brrrrrrrrrrr!

We are about 4 inches into an expected 8 inch snowfall today. We have already had more than twice as much snow as we had all of last year, and for the first time since I was a kid, and we did it all the time, people are skating on ponds on Long Island. We are having a real throwback winter.

HI All,

Mid 70's and sunny until Wednesday. Then an arctic cold will come in which will bring clouds (boo), rain (boo-who) and some temps in the 30's at night. As you know, I loathe the cold and have pull out some wool socks.

I'm not doing this next year. I'm leaving December 26th and coming back March 6th of next year.

Louis, skating on the pond reminds me of The Omen II..ugh.

When I was a kid it was so much colder here that we played ice hockey on the pond all winter every winter. Really cold, but really great memories.:salute::

Supposed to get some snow this week. We don't usually get more than an inch or two. But temps down to 1 deg F at night. I know you folks up north are used to this but that's a little too cool for me. Chris
