NCAA Football 2019 (2 Viewers)

I watched the BYU vs. Navy game yesterday.

I am not picking on Navy but the whole team seemed disinterested.

I saw it in other games over the weekend. I get it, if half of any league decided not to play my bet is that most of those who remained playing would not care much either.
Judging by the final score, disinterested is much too kind. Been a while since Navy has been beaten so completely. Could be a long season for the Middies. -- Al

I truly think that this season is a bust and really only serves as a minor league for the NFL and an outlet for gamblers.

I’ll concede two things. First, the polls have always been a terrible way to decide things when it comes to college football. Second, the 2020 season was always going to be strange.

With that being said two (almost three) weeks into this season there are 6 teams in the top 10 with a record of 0-0. At this point, teams that have proven themselves by going 2-0 or even 1-0 deserve to be ahead of anyone that is 0-0.

I don't have a strong opinion as to whether they should play college football this season but the decision making process has been bizarre. They cancelled the PAC and BIG 10 season due to the health risks but now are reversing course even though nothing has seemingly changed. So there either wasn't a high risk when they cancelled the season or they apparently don't care anymore. Either way it doesn't reflect well on those conferences. They appear to lack any kind of coherent leadership.

The PAC-12 is apparently finally going to have a season.

If they were smart they’d have a one game season since being 0-0 currently qualifies for No.’s 2,4,5,6,8 and 10 in the polls. 1-0 would certainly mean a CFB playoff birth.

Best comment of the weekend was from Joey Galloway in response to the UCF offense and their 7 false starts in the 1st quarter vs. East Carolina:

Was it crowd nice that caused it?

FSU got embarrassed at Miami and honestly they should be. The QB is just awful, 3 coaches and 4 O Coordinators later and you are stuck with..........LACK OF TALENT. Going to be awhile to rebuild, hopefully this new coach gets recruiting going and is given a chance to build his own group b/c what he inherited is the bottom of the barrel. Just infuriating as this is the only sport I am currently watching. Going to be a long season.

Jimbo Fisher left this team a wreck when he left. Chris

100% agree. No recruiting at the QB position. After Jameis, he just didn't fare well. Francois even before he got hurt was not a blue chipper that they are used to having in reserve. There is zero reason that school cannot get A1 talent. There is enough of it out there and they certainly still have a national forum and showcase. I just hope we stick with this coach and see where he can go. Alumni is very fickle and just not used to losing and they rule the roost for sure.

For whatever reason I have seen all of BYU’s games this year on TV.

At the end of each game when head coach Kalani Sitake shakes hands with the opposing team’s head coach he removes his cap.

Class move in an age where class is all but a lost art.

As you mentioned Tom, a major university in Florida should be able to recruit a 4 star QB. There's plenty of talent to choose from. Chris

Frank Gore Jr. scored a touchdown yesterday for Southern Mississippi.

His dad will be playing today for the Buffalo Bills.

UK loses in OT to Ol Miss with missed PAT. Not much defense. Back to mediocrity. :rolleyes2: Chris

Navy is having a rough year. Lost to Air Force yesterday 40-7, leaving them at 1-2, and lucky to have the one win, a miraculous comeback over Tulane. Navy has yielded 122 points in their 3 games, while scoring only 34, and their formerly vaunted running game is a mess. Looking like a long season for the Middies. -- Al

The PAC has scheduled some games to kickoff at 9AM! Good grief. I assume that is TV related but it seems very odd.

Al:

I watched the Air Force game.

Leaving the score aside, I love watching any of the Academies play each other. No one on either team celebrates after the most mundane accomplishment (i.e. getting a first down), nor do any players stand over an opponent after a big hit. The mutual respect is obvious.

Then there is that great tradition of singing each Academy’s fight song at the end of the game.

Completely agree, Jason. There is a measure of respect evident in the service academies that just doesn't exist elsewhere, college or pro. I watch Army and Navy whenever I can. I'm partial to Navy, grew up watching them and live relatively close to Annapolis, but it was my dad who hooked me, as he was in the USN in WW2 and always liked to watch the Middies play. I still remember watching Roger the Dodger run around the field.:wink2: -- Al

Teams in the Big 10 and PAC 12 really need to be removed from the rankings. By the time they play their first games many teams in other conferences will have played five or more games.

Teams shouldn’t be rewarded for doing nothing.

The 2020 college football season can be summed up by this:

No. 22 Texas at unranked Oklahoma
