NCAA Football 2019 (2 Viewers)

Someone needs to tell Fromm Stingley plays for LSU.

Maybe if Georgia scores a TD AND keeps it within 20, they'll get in as the #4 seed.

Been a Georgia fan for over forty years, disappointment is a way of life.

Good news is I have 2 teams to cheer on. My brother is in Charlotte so he’s partial to Clemson, and I have a golfing buddy who was a cheerleader at LSU. Plenty of other LSU and Clemson connections but regardless I wont be emotionally involved, which is always good.

Almost no talk about the defending champs Clemson this year. It's all been about Ohio St. and LSU. I think LSU will roll Oklahoma but Ohio St. is going to have their hands full with Clemson. That should be a great game. Anything can happen in college football though. Particularly after teams have to sit for nearly a month waiting for the bowl games.

Best traditional game of the year is this upcoming weekend, Army v Navy. Records make no real difference between these two and it is always a spectacle worth watching. I've seen more Army/Navy games then I have Super Bowls and I've seen all of those. Army/Navy is my favorite football game of the year and will always remain so. Go Navy!^&grin -- Al

I couldn't be happier for Jalen Hurts. He has made the playoffs four straight years. No other QB can say that.

YES ... GO NAVY!

There is only one "sporting event" that I watch or care about and it is the annual Army <> NAVY.

Although Navy is 9-2 this year, and Army is 5-7, as Al said, records mean little in this game.
Today the odds are Navy with a -10.5.
I have been to 12 games, but it's been a few years since I attended one. However, I've NEVER missed one on TV.

Longest win streak: Navy, 14 (2002–2015)

Current win streak: Army, 3 (2016–present)

All-time series: Navy leads, 60–52–7

Largest victory: Navy, 51–0 (1973)

Go Navy,
Semper Fortis

Navy wins big, 31-7, and their Qb, Perry, rushes for 304 yards, the most ever by an individual in the series. A very old-style game as Navy threw 1 pass and Army only threw 6. Good, ol' smash mouth football and a fun watch. -- Al

Wow what a GREAT win for Navy.

The box score should read Malcolm Perry - 31 <> Army 7. But both academys beilieve in a team effort and not an individual.
When Army drove down the field in Qtr. 1 I initially had a "sinking" feeling (Ya' pun intended) but then Perry made his touchdown run and that set the stage for the rest of the contest.

Also need to give a huge amount of credit to the Navy Defense as they shut down Army cold after their only score.

Now on to the Liberty Bowl!!!!

Liberty Bowl
Kansas State vs. Navy
Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium
Memphis, TN

Go Navy, beat the Wildcats!

Ahem. “Air Force fans like to point out that the team from the Colorado-based school also competes each year for the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy – which the Falcons have won 20 times compared to 16 times for Navy and eight times for Army.”

Morning, Rutledge

And ...... Airforce fans should do so with "PRIDE".

Of course NO disrespect to the Airforce Acadamy was mentioned or intended.
This post was only about the TRADITIONAL / ANNUAL clash of ARMY and NAVY.

For some reason ARMY<>AIRFORCE or NAVY<>AIRFORCE is not considered a classic rivalry as is the 120th ARMY<>NAVY matchup

This game has 120 years of tradition, where the two academies have deep resect for each other … except for 4 hours in December each year. ^&grin

Airforce has always been a strong contender and the records show that, so congrats to you and them.
Seems this year Navy beat Airforce 34-25, so we now have the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy.

See you next year as the two schools go head to head.

Oh ya' .. best of luck in the Cheez-it Bowl!

Some pretty ugly allegations about the cadets at the Army-Navy game. Something about making white supremacist signs during the game. I'm not sure if that was legitimate or some type of PC nonsense but if true those folks should be gone. As in expelled. It would be nice if one sporting event could off without any controversy but alas that is not the state of things.

I belatedly looked at the All American list. Not surprised that UK had two players to make 1st team, punter and specialist/returner. The WR converted to QB had the most yds rushing in the SEC. Not unusual for top tier teams, OSU, FSU, PSU, etc to have multiple players on 1st team AA every year. But this is Kentucky and don't know when this happened before, if ever. Chris

Love the coach sad the day he left FSU, wish he would have come back as the head coach!

I see ESPN hired Ryan Leaf as a commentator. I guess his 7 and 5 yr sentences for breaking into homes looking for drugs don't count against him. He served almost no time for the convictions. Words fail me. Chris

Tough night for the PAC with USC and Wash St. getting beat. SC got rolled by Iowa. Oklahoma is a 14 point underdog against LSU. I don't think they win but that is quite a spread. I would take them and also Clemson who is something like a 2 point underdog against Ohio St. Clemson has a decent chance to win that game.

It's beginning to look like OU is a wee bit outclassed.:rolleyes2: Never seen anything like Burrow's 7 Td passes and 403 yards passing in one half. {eek3} Only question now is whether LSU calls off the dogs in the 2nd half to avoid scoring 100 points. -- Al

I think OU’s game plan was to try and win a shoot out but in this case they were simply out gunned.

The OSU/Clemson game was a much better match, although I'm not sure we won't see another blow out in the Championship Game. Didn't get the impression that either OSU or Clemson was going to be able to give LSU a game, but things happen. LSU could cool off with the long layoff between games. At least, Clemson better hope so. :rolleyes2: -- Al

Not a fan of tOSU, but they got jobbed not once, not twice, but three times.

First on the targeting foul; the Clemson QB saw the pressure coming, DUCKED, and the helmets collided, what is that kid supposed to do in real time, raise his head to avoid hitting the helmet, that was BS, plus he is their best defensive back, that was third down, penalty kept the drive alive, they scored a TD.

Then on the punt; roughing the kicker? He banged into him, should have been running into the kicker, 5 yard penalty, still fourth down, instead, 15 yards, kept the drive alive and they scored a TD.

Then on the fumble; he caught the ball, had CLEAR possession, was driven back, stripped, fumble, TD.

They booth review overruled that; no football move? What?

So that's a 21 point swing, pure and utter BS.

It was a great game that once again IMO was ruined thanks to refball.

The sport on both the college and the pro level is unwatchable to me, the referees are affecting the outcome of too many plays with bad calls/blown calls/ticky tack penalties/booth reviews...……...such BS, what a shame.

Not to mention on the helmet to helmet hit, the QB was flopping around in the ground like a fish out of water, not sure what he was doing there, selling the call? At any rate; he should have come off the field and went into concussion testing, but nope, he was off the field for one play and came back in.

And he might be a great QB, but holy smokes kid, keep your helmet on as much as possible please, the face of Clemson football he's not, unless you're talking about radio, he's got the perfect face for that.

No dog in this fight, but that was not right.

I really dislike the automatic ejection with targeting. If it is inadvertent because the offensive player lowers his head, then call a penalty but don't eject the defender. One of those bogus player safety rules while they extend the season with additional TV games like this one to make money. With that said, if you are up 16-0, you need to put them away not have to rely on the refs. The OS AD is claiming the officiating is a conspiracy involving ESPN. It makes him look ridiculous.

George, we usually agree and I am not a fan of either team especially Clemson, BUT let me give you my points:

A. Targeting - I think they got him, reason being is, he didn't try to move his head in any way, he just crushed the guy with the crown of the helmet and as the independent official said - tough break but right call.

B. Roughing - they call it all the time a punter gets hit when the kicking leg is in the air - I don't like the rule, but it is a pretty consistent call across the board, you rarely see it not called.

C. Fumble - in slow mo, IMO he had possession, in real time, he didn't he was fighting with the DB and it was fast. This one was a judgement but again according to the independent official, they went with the letter of the rule and it was clear.

NOW, all of that being said, I really don't like Clemson, they are the nemesis of FSU and I hate Dabo, I really dislike that guy b/c he beats my team and IMO he is kind of an *** (I have said it before on here). As to Ohio State - I am not a Big 10 fan and could not stand Urban Meyer, so 2 reasons I chuckled that they lost last night - 1. Urban was on the sideline looking like he was still coaching and 2. Kirk Herbstreidt is such a OSU Homer, why he was given that game is beyond me, his bias came through so bad I wanted to mute the TV.

All said and done, IF OSU was my team, it is a **** tough way to lose, but simple solution - IN the first half, they were in the redzone 3 times and got 9 points. Had they pounced on Clemson when they had them on the ropes early, they would have won that game, but the old saying kicking FG's instead of TD's is not a way to win, it came back and bit them big time.

Again, just IMO.
