NCAA Football 2019 (2 Viewers)

Minn plays Iowa, NW and Wisconsin. They could win out, be unbeaten, and play OSU. Miracles happen and they could beat them, although not likely. THen they are in the playoffs. Biggest Cinderella ever. Chris

Minn goes down in flames to a weak Iowa team. Playoffs revert to the usual suspects. :rolleyes2: Chris

The Sooners with a historic, epic comeback vs Baylor, they had better jump in the rankings now over some of the posers ahead of them.

With Alabama losing their QB, they are sure to lose again, the Sooners could move into that #4 spot, Georgia might lose again too and it would be LSU, Ohio St, Clemson and Oklahoma...………...

I can't help but wonder if Saban left Tagovailoa in so that they could add to their point total as it seems that this committee values blowouts as much as anything else.

Big day for those who love traditional college football rivalries. One of my favorites is Harvard v Yale. USC v UCLA is also on today. Also not to be missed is a powerhouse meeting between Ohio State and Penn State. The Navy v SMU game should be a good one, too. Gonna be a fun day. -- Al

Just a bad day all around for me in the college football world, reverse hat trick actually in the worst way.

Texas lost to Baylor and Cal beat Stanford in the Big Game.

Since it is all college related I feel obligated to quote Animal House:

Bluto: My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

Otter: Better listen to him, Flounder. He’s pre-med.

Oregon and Penn State lost today, so the Soooners move up to #7, with Georgia, Alabama and Utah (wait, what; UTAH?.......***........) ahead of them.

If Oregon knocks off Utah in the Pac 12 championship game, LSU knocks off Georgia in the SEC Championship game and Auburn beats Alabama, Oklahoma gets in provided they win their conference championship game..................if Alabama beats Auburn, they have no shot, which is pretty ****ty that a non conference winning team gets in over one that won theirs.

Whatever..................I could care less who wins if Alabama/Oklahoma get knocked out, not a fan of LSU, tOSU or Clemson, what's this, the 47th year in a row Clemson is undefeated thanks to the march of the tomato cans of a schedule they play year in and year out?

The playoff rankings make no sense, there has to be a better way to decide this.

LSU has beaten Alabama (#5), Florida (#11) and Auburn (#15) and yet they are ranked second to Ohio State who has beaten Penn State (#10) and Cincinnati (#17).

Georgia has 1 loss to South Carolina (unranked, 3-7 record) yet they are ahead of Alabama who has 1 loss (#2 LSU) and Utah with 1 loss (#22 USC).

Anyone watching Alabama and Auburn ,I feel bad for Alabama fans ,they just lost 3 points at half that should never have been allowed to happen. Rules need to be fixed, just because something goes to replay, you don't allow the timing to change, ridiculous unintended consequence, if they lose by 3 or tied, they got screwed.

Dumb a** refs. Clock should have run when the ball was set, no time to even hike the ball. I hate to see games decided by missed or incorrect calls. -- Al

Wouldn't you just know that the FG that should never have happened ended up being the point difference in the Auburn win. I'll bet Bama is mad enough to sue.:rolleyes2: Terrible way to lose. -- Al

Yup, they got screwed.

Two PIC 6's didn't help.

If Oklahoma gets shut out of this, sorry, I have zero interest in whoever wins from LSU, tOSU, Utah? and Clemson.

Clemson is in this thing every year thanks to them playing a schedule full of tomato cans.

Whoever wins, I don't care, zero interest.

I just heard if LSU loses to Georgia in the SEC Championship game, they will still get in.

So if Oklahoma beats Baylor and wins their conference championship, they are out?

Yeah, this playoff system sucks, how does a one loss team that loses their conference championship game get in over a one loss team that wins theirs.

That's BS.

Georgia beat ND, Florida and Auburn. 'bama doesn't have any impressive wins like this and did not even win their division. One signature win would have gotten them in the playoffs, and they had two opportunities on their schedule: Auburn and LSU. The lost both with both losses coming in Nov when Saban almost never losses.

Joe:

My point is that the schedules simply don't match up since none of those one loss teams played each other.

What they all had in common was one loss. Georgia's one loss was clearly the worst among the 3.

Alabama is now out with their second loss today.

It will be interesting to see what happens after next week's conference championship games.

It's kind of ironic. The playoff system was supposed to eliminate all the angst over who is the nat'l champion. :rolleyes2:

UK played a wide receiver as their QB after the #1 and 2 were hurt and is 5-2 with him as the starter. He has 1,000 yds rushing in the SEC. UK had 500+ yds rushing yesterday and 4 games in a row with over 400 on the ground. The QB had over 200 yds rushing and 4 TDs yesterday and was one of two for passing yesterday. 11 yds passing in the previous game. Haven't seen anything like this since Navy had all rushing games a few yrs ago. Chris

Speaking of which, Navy won a shootout with Houston 56-41 yesterday that reminded me of those past Navy teams, rushing for almost 450 yards while throwing 4 passes. It was a fun game and gives Navy a 10 win season if they can beat Army in 2 weeks. Glad I have Navy to root for as the Terps are an unmitigated disaster. That program is a total loss right now. -- Al

A sad year for the PAC. UCLA, Stanford were downright pathetic. USC, Washington were mediocre. Utah was the best of the lot but they get rolled by any top ten team. There were empty stands at the Stanford and UCLA games. I'll never understand coaches who play conservative with teams that are ending the season. Stanford was up 17-7 late in the first half against ND. They felt like they had the momentum. They get a fourth and inches and decide to punt! A power team with four wins and a chance to beat ND. Of course, the punt is blocked and blowout is on. Most coaches prefer to play for a respectable loss rather than taking chances to win and risking a blowout. It doesn't make a lot of sense except from a PR perspective to retain jobs.

I am pretty sure David Shaw does need to worry about what plays he calls or whether or not he plays for a respectable loss/win or a blowout in order to retain his job. He is 86-32 and has the most wins in school history. This is the first year since he took over in 2011 that they will not being going to a bowl.

I do wonder if Chip Kelly will retain his job? His large buyout might make UCLA hang onto him for another year.

As far as the attendance goes, the weather and the holiday weekend no doubt played a part in the low turnouts. If you have lived in California then you know that if it even sprinkles Californians will not step outside if they don't have to!

if UGA wins both LSU and the Dawgs go to the Playoff*. If UGA loses, LSU will be the lone SEC school to make the cut.

* Barring an unlikely blowout by Ga.

I think Kelly stays for another season. He is a fraud that has translated one good run at Oregon into a number of lucrative coaching opportunities in the NFL and college. All of which have ended in complete disaster. Clay Helton is likely to be fired at SC though. The alums are clamoring for his head. They want Urban Meyer to replace him. Coaching must be a great career. If Helton is fired, his buyout is something like $10-15 million! Imagine getting that kind of money for failing and being fired. And then he will get hired again for a few more million. And on and on.
