Big 12 Championship is Oklahoma State versus Texas. Texas should win that game, way more talent, same question is will they play up to that. They beat Alabama, if Alabama upsets Georgia (which after this weekend's debacle and luck against Auburn........that is a big if), it actually makes Texas stronger as Alabama becomes a much bigger "quality win".

FSU should handle Louisville, again, talent on d line will be big factor and the new QB has been serviceable once he gets going (they have 2 of the best receivers in College today).

Washington is going to have the hard road - Oregon is looking for revenge.

My prediction is as follows:

A. Georgia wins and is in.
B. Michigan wins and is in.
C. Florida State if they win, they are in

notes - Washington loses to Oregon. Texas beats OK State.

D. Oregon is in with 1 loss over Texas with 1 loss as they will have more "quality wins" and the loss to Washington regular season is worth more than Texas loss to Oklahoma.

As to what happens in final four, anyone's guess, but I like Michigan this year.

Now if A or B loses, it will be a mess. If C loses, it gets interesting (If Oregon wins, Texas wins, then they both would get in).

IF All 4 Unbeatens win, they are in, they will be the top 4, you can't argue with undefeated records, there is no further argument on a 4 team playoff and 4 Big Conference unbeatens. End of story.

An amazing trend is how often the team that beats USC gets rolled the next week. UCLA played like the '79 Steelers last week against USC and beat them like a drum. This weekend they lost at home to Cal one of the weakest teams in the PAC by a score of 33-7.

Watched the FSU - Florida game Saturday. Ref called a roughing the passer penalty against FSU which led to the only Gator touchdown of the game. That was the worst call I've seen in college football. The defensive player merely tackled the QB, nothing more. FSU coach was still mouthing to the ref after the game.

Agree. You could say it changed the game and kept it closer than it was. That said I thought fsu offense took a bit to get going, defense was far and above stars of the night.

The one thing that has always been complete garbage has been the way an idle team gets into the playoff after another, more deserving team, loses in its conference championship game.

Yup, Ohio State..............

As I said before, this year, to me, if GA, MI, FSU and WA all win, game over, there are your 4. The only exception I see to this is if Oregon beats WA, they have a stronger claim than Ohio State by far IMO. They would be PAC 12 champs with 1 loss - Ohio State would still be 3 time losers to Michigan and out.

In a way, I hope GA and Michigan both win, it will eliminate any foolishness in the rankings.

The big week. Time for the predicts:

Georgia 41 Bama 27 -
It took a miracle for Bama to beat Auburn last week. Keep in mind that Auburn got rolled a couple of weeks ago at home by New Mexico St. Bama has the talent to compete here. Close until the half then the Dawgs roll on.

Oregon 53 Washington 30 - The Ducks will show no mercy in a revenge game with the college playoff at stake. They need an impressive win to get in. The Ducks make like the Birds in Hitchcock's movie and go on the Quack attack.

Texas 41 Oklahoma St. 20 - It might be a letdown not getting another shot at Oklahoma but even Sark can't choke this game away. His reward will be getting humiliated in the college football playoff by either Georgia or Michigan.

Michigan 24 Iowa 13 - Post Ohio St. letdown but Iowa is not winning this game.

Louisville 30 FSU 28 - You never want to play a good team after an embarrassing defeat. The FSU QB situation means Louisville can win this one.

Playoff teams:

1) Georgia
2) Michigan
3) Oregon
4) Texas

Just some thoughts I've had about tomorrow's SEC Championship game. I've really got a good feeling about it. Both teams have improved and gotten better as the year has progressed (even though both were not at their best last week against their in-state rivals). I think Brock Bowers is going to have a huge impact not only as a playmaker, but as a decoy as well. If they try and cover him up, someone else is going to be open and we've got plenty of weapons. I think both teams are going to be ready to play at their best tomorrow. Obviously you have two of the best coaches in the game going against each other. They have tremendous respect for each other, but believe me they both want to win this one so bad they can taste it. The emotions for the players of both teams are going to be running high. I believe Kirby will have our guys ready to run through a brick wall. I just hope it's controlled emotion/aggression and I think it will be on our side. I normally don't make bold predictions, keeping them to myself, but I feel we are really going to thump them tomorrow. I think the game may be close in the first half but we will pull away in the second half. I really think we'll beat them by 20 or so. I may have to eat these words tomorrow but that's what I'm feeling. You never know for sure what's going to happen when kids/young men take the field. Athletics is a great teacher. Competitors learn a lot about themselves, their teammates when the occasion is large. There's no time to be scared, worried, or nervous. I think we have the most complete team in the country this year and we'll be at a high level tomorrow in all phases of the game. Anyway...... GO DAWGS!

Great, in-depth and insightful post from someone who has actually played college football at the University he writes about.

I'm really shocked that Oregon came out so flat in such an important game. UW was the much better team and ran all over them in the 4th quarter. The score was a lot closer than the game. Oregon lost the PAC championship, college playoff, and likely Heisman trophy. Brutal.

Absolutely.

Coming from someone who played college football, wore the uniform, experienced UGA football up close and personal.

Good luck today.

They were 8.5 point favorites in the game.

So much for that.

One down, three to go, good luck everyone who has a dog in the fight, pulling for Michigan and FSU, on the fence about UGA/BAMA...........if UGA and FSU lose, chaos will ensue with Bama, tOSU, UGA and Texas all wanting the final two spots.

I can't see any scenario where the committee leaves out the SEC, not happening.

Nice writeup.

Roll Tide! ^&grin

ROLL TIDE.

Alabama did their part too, beat the #1 team in the country, won the SEC, stopped a 29 game winning streak.

If Michigan and FSU win, it's Michigan, Washington, FSU, Alabama.

If FSU loses, Texas gets in.

If not, they are out.

Well I admit I misjudged the SEC game. Alabama played a great game and deserved to win. They won both lines of scrimmage and Milroe hurt us with his running. It's going to be interesting depending on the outcome of the two games tonight.

The clock just struck 1864 for the Dawgs. Saban owns them. Always good to see the elite programs reestablish order from the pretenders.

Texas handily beat Alabama at Alabama. I think that matters more and it should.

*** are you talking about? Georgia is elite.
Nuts. 29 straight as well as historical track record says enough. Alabama won 1 big game this year.
Nah.

I know it kills you that Sark did it in 3 yrs at Texas after they were dead and buried. Sorry not sorry he did it. And as far as pretenders, look no further than Lincoln Riley and the mightless Trojans. Mic drop.
