NCAA Football 2024 (2 Viewers)

Expanding the field to 12 teams; check.

The way they lined them up/seeded them; beyond idiotic.

Next week you've got the #1 seed having to play tOSU, who look impressive tonight while Texas gets ASU and will demolish them, move on and play the winner, you've got three loaded teams in one bracket, then Penn St, ND, Boise State and Georgia with their back up QB in the other bracket.

It's lopsided IMO.

After the first round, all they need to do is reseed the teams, this is not rocket science.
Every game a blowout. And arguably the two best teams, Oregon and Ohio St. play against each other in the next round. The FCS games were much better. Every team involved seemed to be from North or South Dakota. Sark leads a charmed life so far with Texas. They didn't beat a single top 25 team the entire season. They get a hapless Clemson team at home and then ASU. I am impressed with the crowds given that most students are gone. They filled all those stadiums to the brim. A few empty seats at the Penn St. game in the upper decks but not many.

as you know, in these situations, you take any luck you can. Even the best dynasties over time are benefactors of luck, now you can make an argument that good teams make their own luck too. As I said, I think this thing can go any direction, based on College FB this season. It is not inconceivable that the Oregon/OSU game could be a blow out either way. I could also see Texas paying the price for being inconsistent all year in decision making both on the field and in the box so to speak. If they would have run the ball all game, they would have beaten Clemson by 30 points. They didn't, they got cute on a number of occasions, got a bad luck no call and all of a sudden were in a brief fight. Anything can and will happen in these next games IMO.

Well the first round of the playoffs went without upset and was not very exciting IMO. The next round should provide with some interest. Being a UGA guy, I've been hearing that our chances are diminished with Beck being out. I beg to differ. If you saw Stockton play in the second half against Texas in the SEC championship, you know we have a guy that can handle the situation. Even with Texas trying to take his head off inside the 10 late in the game, Stockton didn't back down. I'm not sure we win that game without his play (even though he did make one costly mistake in the pic he threw). I'm comfortable with him at the helm even though he doesn't have much experience. He is a special kid willing to lay it on the line. A great athlete. FWIW - when I was at the UMASS/UGA game a few weeks ago and talking with Barbara Dooley (widow of former head coach Vince Dooley), she said Gunner Stockton is dating her granddaughter. Bring on Notre Dame!
Will be on your side in the next game, I hope y'all wax Notre Dame. I personally think the best game could be a GA TX rematch again. The second game was a pretty darn good football game to watch. I think your QB should be fine if he settles in. Texas caught him on the rush and forced a bad pass, if the line protects him, no issue. He also needs to curtail his running, that play while legal was very brutal. Shoulders hits to the head can still do a lot of damage. If the GA defense shows up and offense runs the course without huge mistakes, Georgia should handle ND fairly cleanly.

I don't blame Texas for a soft draw. That's on the NCAA or whoever put together this system. Certain teams have benefited even more like ASU and Boise St. I would go with the best four teams to get the bye as not all conference champs are the same. Also put more emphasis on strength of schedule. Records are less meaningful when you have over 100 teams than in the NFL where the schedules are more comparable due to a smaller number of competitors. That would interject a bit of subjective selective criteria but so be it. I've seen too many teams like Indiana and SMU pump themselves only to get humiliated by better teams. There is an enormous talent difference between the real top ten teams and everyone else.

Since college sports are obsessed with money and not tradition or regional rivalries it should all be one big league.

They should also cancel the education side and remove any academic requirements.

Simply put, the “college” side of college sports is over.

Unfortunately, that does seem like the logical progression of where this is all going. The money drives everything. The non-playoff bowl games are ridiculous with the transfer portal. The universities are now dedicated solely to making money and have given up on education. By the time most kids reach college, it is too late to correct decades of neglect in the our broken education system. So they have mostly given up and dedicated themselves to profit. The NCAA will fight to keep their cash cow but it will eventually become a minor league type professional league for football and basketball.
