Pricing, where's your limit?? (1 Viewer)

Sorry oz, you are wrong on both accounts as I have stated my thoughts for starting this thread and as far as first legion I have no clue about you there and any issues feel free to asked any mods or Pete Shannon if I ever mentioned your name, I have always enjoyed discussions with you on this forum pm or other wise, oh well, I find it funny as I have never spoke bad of K&C on any forum and I bring up 1 thread on pricing and the nasty comments have been rolln ever since??? ...Sammy

Are you sure you haven't ever 'reported' one of my early tongue in cheek 'FL is smaller than 1/30 scale' posts, if not then I do apologize, and I hope there are no long term hard feelings between us. But why start this thread in the K & C section? Especially when most members had you labelled as a First Legion only collector. I can well imagine that you have had several pm's about the matter, but I hope they weren't too nasty, this is just Toy Soldiers as they say.

I'm all for supporting the smaller toy soldier makers, as well as our favorite high volume producers.

I don't think that anyone engaged in this discussion is intentionally trying to brand bash.

The problem with the increasing prices for the companies on the supply side is that the higher the price of an idividual figure goes up the more attractive the industry becomes to other potnetial producers. This can be a good thing for consumers & dealers in the long run as it will provide more options and more competitive pricing. But, this can be a bit uncomfortable for some while going through any type of market tranisition.

It appears from our discussion here that we might be approaching this threshold. K&C have built there business on the dollars of a certain market segment and now, due in large part to continued price increases, some of those loyal followers are begining to feel as though they are being left behind. This is certainly a tough situation for the decision heads @ K&C.

Again, K&C sets the industry standard. When they go up, everybody else goes up. Just because there are other brands that are priced above the market leader (FL) this doesn't mean that they command the type of industry wide influence that the industry leader enjoys.

It will be interesting to see if the price increases continue at their recently established pace.

:)

Shane, I guess you need to be on this forum for several years to appreciate the politics involved. Sammys thread in the King & Country section may not have looked like brand bashing to you, but when a known First Legion collector starts something like that it becomes not so much what is said, but who says it, and why.

Actually Oz I haven't receive any Pms except for a few in general about the topic, no scary emails to chase away, just tripping on all the nonsense because a first legion collector started a thread on pricing in the K&C section???!!!! Give me a f ing break

Well, it appears I’ve stumbled upon a topic of discussion that has some deep seeded roots that are obviously beyond my experience to fully comprehend.

If I may, I would like to politely excuse myself until the old scores are settled.

My apologies.

Sammy mate,
Remember we just discuss in a PM that "hindsight" is a great thing. Well here is another one for you cobber. "You shall reap what you sow" So as they say in the classics "If you can't handle the heat then get out of the Kitchen".
Here endth the lesson. You have a great day now.^&grin^&grin
Cheers Howard

Shane,

No apologies needed. Unfortunately, I doubt any scores will be ever settled. I have been part of this Forum since the beginning and it's K & C versus this company or that company. Don't ask me why. As Roseanna Danna Danna said, it's always something.

If you had no 'nasty' personal messages then I must assume you perceived the posts on this thread as being nasty, can't see any myself. But at least your thread has provided everyone with a true insight into your views on these matters.

Well, K&C is the Heavyweight Champ right now. So, I suppose they're the ones who are going to get the most stuff thrown their direction. In any event, thanks for filling me in on some more of the community norms.

Just a minor question about community member "relations."

So, are the larger industry events like the Chicago Show always this friendly?

Shane

The Chicago Show is a fantastic event, where everybody is friendly and has a great time. If you come on this section of the Forum, you'd swear that nobody is happy and people are fighting. It has turned off many. At shows you see people having a good time, which is what hobbies are supposed to be about. Unfortunately, that's not always the case here.

Had to go back to see what the original question was about. Don't know that there is a specific $ price per fig for my limit. I look at comparable brands and prices. So when a certain company is 50% higher than the competion, say $45 per fig, I look at the quality. If I'm not getting a better fig then, no, I'm not buying when the other companies are going in the $30-34 range, again for pretty much the same standard, if not better in some cases. As an example, I have hundreds of KC figs in my 8'x3' Naps dio. I would readily have purchased 10-12 of the new French Cav pieces. I have dozens of KC cav figs already. But, the $119 price per fig is a "no go." I would have spent $960+ at the $80-90 range. So could I afford to buy some at the $119 price? Sure, but I won't. I didn't "cut back" I "cut off." KC has decided they will maximize profit and make up for lost volume (my own case to illustrate). It's Andy's company, good luck to them.

BTW, Sammy, sending this from beautiful, snowy Colorado. :smile2: Here for the week, thought you would enjoy the pic. :wink2: Chris

That's Roseanne Roseannadanna "Well, Jane, it just goes to show you, it's always something--if it ain't one thing, it's another."

Brad this was a simple question about how K&C collectors are dealing with prices, then a few took that question and turned it into a thread that's in the wrong section then it became a first legion collector posting the thread!!! Now it's just become insults at me for ever bringing the topic up. So if a few want to take a dig or rehash old wars for no reason that's on them

Sammy mate,
You are so right. Lets get back to talking prices in a general discussion. Please tell me how FL can justify charging $65 for a single figure.??? You opened the door so, as my NY lawyers mates will tell you, the judge will now let the question be put to the man in the witness box.:smile2:
Cheers Howard
