Things that annoy me (4 Viewers)

Fast food restaurants that are drive thru only. I don't want to wait 20+ minutes in line to get food that will be cold by the time I get home. Half the fast food places have indoor dinning open. Why not the rest? BTW, was this topic previously posted. ^&confuse Chris

I hate ordering in a drive thru. Can never understand what is being said through those speakers. It sounds like the teacher in Charlie Brown. And the menus have become wildly complicated for what is supposed to be "fast food." If you want to be a fast food place, you have three items on the menu instead of a hundred with all manner of combinations (as John Belushi said "Pepsi, Pepsi, Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger, chip). Chick-fil-a seems to have their act together though. The line is a mile long but they run customers through with the efficiency of German engineers.

Now they are having double lines which if the car in the other lane zooms through and beats you even though you were ordering first has a good chance of getting your order. I just park and walk in.

Here's a Pro Tip Mark. Park in the drive thru lane, then walk in, less competition, but you'd better have your gun with you in-case someone gets 'ornery' :wink2:

At least it doesn't go from Backstreet Boys to Adele, so you've got that going for you, which is nice.......;).

One thing bemuses me more than annoy are some Ebay listings. I don't understand someone listing a set of figs for $530 while the same set lists for $200 and has been for some time. And there's another of the same set for $250. What is the seller thinking? THere are other examples, a bldg listed as $70 and $138 as well. Chris

I see that a lot. I assume they are just fishing to see if someone bites without shopping around.

I find Vlad more than annoying at this time......

Breaking news! Using "Breaking News" or "Alert" with a lot of sound effects and flashing graphics when coming back from a commercial break on CNN and Fox when the report is old news. Also using phrases like "bombshell".

People who drive 70 MPH, or slower in the left hand lane of a three lane interstate and never move over. Chris

Having to follow someone who drives 15 mph on a two lane road when it snows a little. I have to follow them and can't pass. If they're that afraid, they shouldn't be on the road (seeing a trend in my last two posts). Chris

Chris...

I'm just the opposite...if the speed limit is 70...and I'm doing 70...or 70+ (usually just a fraction over)...in the left lane...
why should I move over for the privileged idiot driver...
that speeds up on my bumper doing 80+ and then rides my bumper like were on a Nascar track......
that's unsafe driving...

I wanna "brake check" them...but in this day of road rage...I don't dare...
probably get shot at like I see on the Houston news all the time now days...

some entitled somebody trying to drive 10-15-20 miles over the speed limit...
jumping in and out of lanes...
while everybody else is following the speed limit...
he's a liability to everyone around him...

in my experience...usually some young kids driving...no respect for the law or anyone's safety around him...

left lane is for the faster traffic...and considered the "passing lane"...that's true...
but that doesn't mean it's Autobahn rules in that lane...there's still a speed limit...
so if you're going the speed limit in that lane...why would I feel I'm obligated to move and let Mario Andretti have the lane?

In Australia we're Right Hand Drive, so the Left Lane is the Slow Lane. On Queensland roads marked 90 kph and over drivers are supposed to stay in the Left Lane unless overtaking, but it is considered polite to stay in the Left Lane at slower speeds.

However as there are few polite drivers on the roads these day a lot of drivers stay in the middle lane of a Three lane road as they don't consider themselves to be 'slow'. And of course there are plenty of drivers that like to stay in the Right Hand (Fast) Lane as they like to 'Police' the speed of other drivers. Consequently the Left/Slow lane sometimes has less traffic, especially in Urban areas, consequently Fast drivers often use the Slow lane.

To make things more 'interesting', in Australia you can overtake a vehicle on either side, for example if they're staying in the center lane you can pass on either the Left or the Right. I'm not sure what the rules are in the US but I understand that is frowned upon in the UK and called 'Undertaking'. Seems to work fine in Australia, provided you check the lane before changing lanes, however plenty of people who have moved here from the UK tend to disagree.

"but it is considered polite to stay in the Left Lane at slower speeds."......................if nothing else, the last 2.5 years has taught me politeness has gone out the window, also known as hooray for me, **** everyone else.

Here in the US, the slow pokes stay in the right lane, those doing several miles over the speed limit ride in the middle lane, if you want to pass someone, it's poor form to do so in the right hand lane, the left hand lane is for passing, I don't drive in that lane, too many maniacs climb up your *** if you travel in that lane, I only use that lane to pass.

I sit in the middle lane, if I get behind some bozo going 55, I put my blinker on, drift into the left hand lane, safely get past Mr Magoo and get back into the middle lane.

That is unless someone is over in the left lane with his hands at 10:00/2:00 going 60......................."I got a right to be here".............yeah, no you don't, move over so I can pass you, I don't want to get behind a guy like that and have some lunatic climb up my ***, I'm not the problem and I don't want to get creamed over it.

Interesting George, is it actually an offence to Overtake in the Slow lane in your state, or just 'poor form'?

As I said earlier, it's perfectly ok here in Queensland, and most other Aussie states, to Overtake via the 'Slow' lane. I've also noticed increasing driver selfishness over the years, however I like to think that the majority of drivers in Australia are still considerate and we have several commonsense rules that usually over-ride actual road rules.

For example in Australia most drivers on a major road/highway will change lanes to allow vehicles to merge onto the highway from an on-ramp/slip-lane. Legally the entering vehicle has to give way to all vehicles already on the highway, but commonsense wins...usually. To make things interesting a lot of drivers actually think they have the right of way when merging onto a highway, and when their lane ends on regular laned roads.

IMO the increasing adoption of GPS either via cell phone/smartphone or factory fitted has also affected vehicle speeds. For example analog speedos in Aussie cars are set to 'under indicate' the vehicles speed, the speedo will read 100 kph but actual speed is about 96 kph whereas GPS on your cell phone and most likely inbuilt GPS is pretty well dead on 100kph.

I'm not 100% sure, but in some states, it's illegal to pass on the right.

As far as those in the right hand lane allowing those coming onto the highway; again, common courtesy, I always slow down and allow the merging traffic to get onto the highway but often times, *******s in the right lane either speed up to blow in ahead of that person or worse yet, just sit in the lane and not allow the person to merge, thus the poor bastard has to slam on their brakes and sit with their *** end exposed in the lane to maniacs behind them, it's not a pretty picture.

I'm not sure who designed the merges onto the interstate highways in PA but they clearly did not anticipate a sea of traffic and trucks. We have many of those short suicide merge lanes when you have about two seconds before the merge lane ends. Those that stop in the merge lane are doomed to sit there. Only the most reckless or ignorant of the dangers have success in that situation. It's a reverse form of Darwinism at work. Devolution flourishes in the age of idiocracy.
