Things that annoy me (6 Viewers)

It's unfortunate that the climate change issue has always been framed in terms of politics. That is what doomed it in the US. Every single person now views it through their own political prism. Like the vaccine and many other things, it is no longer possible to have a rational discussion because everyone has reached a conclusion. I do think there are some who intentionally framed it in this way for political purposes. Using it as a litmus test to further divide people instead of any real concern about the underlying issue. It is extremely naive to suggest that the US could cut off the use of fossil fuels in the near term. It would also make little difference to climate change even if that occurred since most of the pollution comes from places like China and India that have no intention to forfeit the competitive economic advantages of the status quo. A more realistic plan might have convinced more folks but that train has left the station. It didn't help that many proponents continued to fly around on their private jets and continue to do so.

Great post.

“Our idiot’s ideas are better than your idiot’s ideas” is the prevailing thought process that is making the swirl down the toilet go even faster.

I have chosen to lean into it while I enjoy the show aka the parade of stupidity.

Amazon Prime to start carrying commercials next month unless you pay an additional fee.

It's never enough with these companies. I have Comcast but the coming year is when I have to get rid of it. New hikes in prices amount to $40+ more a month. It's just too much.

Most of their programming is awful to begin with. I watch Tubi more often than Prime. Tubi runs the same two or three commercials over and over. It is maddening to watch but they have a ton of old movies.

This administration has done absolutey nothing to stop this. It feels like they want the country to collapse. They need to go.

I received the email this morning, an additional 2.99 per month. I signed up for it. It’s a tad annoying but worth it. Amazon is probably the streaming service I use the most, not so much for the programs they make but for the incredible movie catalogue and channels you can subscribe to like PBS.

How much do I have to pay to not hear Kirk Herbstreit on the Thursday night games?

Whatever the amount I am in.

Bowl games are a joke these days.

"After previously unbeaten Florida State was snubbed from the College Football Playoff, at least 23 Seminoles players opted out of playing in the Orange Bowl.

Aside from injured quarterback Jordan Travis, that list included star receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson, defensive end Jared Verse and six other players who declared for the NFL draft. There were also 14 players who entered the transfer portal and missed the bowl game, including backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker. The Seminoles only had 53 scholarship players dressed Saturday, and some of those had never seen the field in a college football game."

Believe it or not was 29 scholarship players by game time not including transfer portal.

Weird story. The house temp was around 120 degrees.

"An elderly couple in
South Carolina was found dead in their house over the weekend after their heater measured over 1,000F (537.8C) , according to authorities."

Companies that do not include instructions with their products any longer. Had to download and print 34 PDF pages this morning (I prefer not to use tablet or computer while constructing/installing the item I bought. How much savings is the company actually getting?

The Maine Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) delayed a vote to mandate EVs in the state after, you guessed it, a winter storm knocked out electrical power to hundreds of thousands of residents. Think this dose of reality will alter what's coming from the BEP? How does a state agency get such power?

I'm not saying EV's won't be good in the future but right now they are a disaster as we don't have the grid to support them or as you can see in Chicago you can't charge them in extreme cold or be near salt water like in Florida. They isn't even enough chargers. The idiot in the White House said he was going to have 500,000 made (which isn't nearly enough) but hasn't built any. ( where did all that tax money go?) In time as technology improves they probably will replace gas driven cars. But they have to phase them in. The people of the past didn't say that at a certain date no horses would be allowed on the road and you had to buy a car. What these would be world conquerors want is people not to stray to far from home and use mass transit so they can control them. But these wanna be dictators can still live and go as they please. The best thing the world can do is when they are having their big shingdig at Davos is to blow the place up. I think that would go a long way in solving the climate problem.^&grin^&grin^&grin

Frequent stories on the Fox News website that feature Pat Sajak. I would love to know the backstory for this. They often have a negative headline like Pat has told a contestant to "shut up" on the Wheel of Fortune only to read the story and see the context that he was joking. They also post stories about Jeopardy. I wonder if they have a game show intern with nothing else to do. Bizarre.

I have often thought this too! Pat must have made someone mad over the years! Total clickbait. Unfortunately, all the "news" websites have become are free National Enquirer.

3.4% of "journalists" are registered Republicans.

The rest.......................

Tells you all you need to know.

There is another pointless Wheel of Fortune/Pat Sajak story on the Fox website today. Amazing.

Pat Sajak went to the same High School (Farragut High School in Chicago) that my mother went to and the one I would have gone to if did not go to a private Catholic High School.
Other graduates of Farragut Kim Novak (same class as my mom) and Kevin Garnett.

In Scandinavian countries where the weather is cold and they have a lot of EVs (in Norway it’s 25%), it’s less of an issue because there are enough charging stations, plus people live more in houses than apartments (which is an issue for big cities). It’s basically an infrastructure question here in the U.S. Eventually more stations will be built but right now it’s a problem.
