Things that annoy me (2 Viewers)

The recent parole of Tate-LaBianca murderer Leslie Van Houten.

It just shows you that with the passage of time that the egregious nature of almost any crime against the victim will be forgotten and sympathy will turn to the criminal. Here in PA, our governor has undermined the will of the people, the state legislature, and judicial process by putting a moratorium on the use of the death penalty. An incredible abuse of power. The last two governors have refused to allow any executions. They don't look to the individual facts of any case for grounds for abuse. They simply proclaim that no one can be executed no matter the evidence against them or egregious nature of the crime despite the imposition of that penalty under the law. They have effectively undermined the entire legal process with a stroke of the pen because they don't like the law.

I told my son that with the speed at which society is dumbing down, he could be the next Oppenheimer if he can just add two plus two.

Last week, it was reported that every single soon-to-be eighth grader at LeBron James‘ ‘I Promise School’ has not passed the Ohio state math test since their 2018-2019 school year. Following the reports, the Ohio public school — which opened in 2018 to focus on at-risk students, and reportedly costs a yearly $8 million in taxpayer money — is now responding to the “discouraging” test results.

not surprised in the least. Thanks for posting.

this really irritates me. They were sentenced to death. Should have been end of story. Maybe if we are lucky, she gets hit by a bus.

Agree 100 percent. There is no excuse for crimes such as these. It is utter horsepuckey, but look everywhere and all you get is history revised over any subject you can think of.

Digital coupons at the grocery store. In order to get the sale price we have to download the coupon to the app on our phones.

The NFL preseason games.

Back when there were 4 games, the starters on offense and defense would go a couple of series in the first quarter in game 1, then the entire first quarter in game 2, then the entire first half and a series or two into the third quarter in game 3, then rest all the starters for game 4.

Now? No starters play in game 1, they play maybe a series or two in game 2, then they all are rested for game 3.

And the NFL has the balls to charge full price for this nonsense?

When the schedule goes to 18 games, how about if they just can the two preseason games and call it a day.

What a joke.

And teams will need to load up with a platoon of QBs when that happens, even with the rules that a QB cannot be touched.

This ticks me off, as well. Sort of a form of discrimination against we older sorts that don't use that technology. -- Al

Add that to places that don't take cash and self-service checkouts. I'm the only person getting on a plane now with a paper ticket. I don't see a lot of efficiencies with these changes. Half the time someone is having to help the customer to make it work.

I've said it before but the 18-game schedule is ridiculous and just shows what a farce it is about player safety. All those stupid rule changes that are supposed to keep players from being hurt but then they extend the schedule with more games. The human body can't take the punishment of an 18-game NFL season.

Doubling down on this; the supermarket I used to go to has gotten rid of all the cashiers, it's 100% self service....God forbit you buy a bag of grapes or a ****ing muffin, the whole thing comes crashing down........not to mention, they now have half a dozen people standing around to "assist people with self checkout", ie, those 107 year old ladies who have no clue how the thing works.

So they canned the cashiers, but pay these ladies to stand around and be.............cashiers.

Yes, the world has gone to ****.

It will take a while to educate people with self service checkouts, I don't know how the elderly in Australia will cope as so many still use cash. There's always a delay when a pensioner starts rummaging thru her purse looking for coins etc. And don't get me started on paper bags in lieu of plastic, it's like back to the 70s {eek3}

A "cashier" in Walmart was making a big deal of having to have your own bags and have to bag your items and check yourself out. I told her that before long we will have to unload the trucks and stock the shelves so we wont need her.

I dont know if you guys have Aldi stores in the states, it's a German owned store where you have to bag your own. I don't shop there often, they are fast, but not into conversation :wink2:

I was at our local grocery store when an employee tried to get me to get out of a regular line to try self-checkout.

I politely told him no to which he responded I’d be doing the same thing my cashier was doing.

I told him that the difference was my cashier was getting paid to do it.

He smiled and said, “good point, have a nice day…..”

I use the self scan and/or check out in two supermarkets I use regularly, Tesco and Aldi here in UK, yes there is occasionally something that you need help with or approval of, as in Booze, but I seldom have to queue, unlike for the cashiers, which is why I use them. Though as you say Matt, they're not into conversation ! :wink2::tongue:

When you open a bag of potato chips and most of the bag is crumbs from demolished larger pieces.

Our supermarket moves items from one aisle to the next every few months. Causes more foot traffic so people will impulse buy. Have to wander about looking for what I need. Probably happens everywhere.

After spending hundreds of millions on "infrastructure" it is still apparently too expensive to bury the power lines. Even in places where they are a hazard. Some of the recent deadly fires have been started by downed power lines. Billions in damage and heavy loss of life in Hawaii and California. Those are places where there are high fire risks and wind. Not a good combination. How about getting the military to bury the power lines in those places if it is too expensive? It seems like a national security issue that justifies the cost.
