What Toy Soldier items Have You Acquired in The Last 2 Weeks ? (6 Viewers)

I look forward to seeing these when they are finished jb

*The Dodge City Cowboy 12 piece Band - along with Mounted Hoppy and The Lone Ranger from White Tower Miniatures.

*Army Air Corps 21 piece Band - from RP World Models.

Cheers

Martyn:)

Ordered a pile of stuff from Dorset today too Martyn, which I think you also might like - including a starter ten pieces of an Egyptian Cavalry band. A bit of an experiment this one - as it is attempting to make up that old photo that Trooper found - from a variety of "spare parts" sourced by Giles - and a Pony Express rider- which is attempting to look a bit like your Trophy model. If they turn out okay - I might increase numbers to around thirty or so in the band, later on. jb

All to be done in my favourite Glossy style - needless to say!:Cheers also - D

Chris I am glad you like them. When I showed them to Bob Walker he tried to buy them from me to no avail.

Gentle Friends,

After seeing so many beautiful glossy figures on the last couple pages of this thread, all I have to say is:

THREE CHEERS FOR THE GLOSSIES!!!!

They are incredibly beautiful figures. Thanks to all for posting photos of them!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Thanks Pat, it was my pleasure.

Another Beau Geste pick-up is set BG 144 German Line Infantry, Saxony, Full Dress, 1893. However, when I showed them to Bob Walker on Saturday, he thought that Beau Geste got it wrong and that the cornflower blue uniforms should be Bavarian and not Saxon. I'll leave that to others to decide which ones they are; I like them which ever they may be. However, if they turn out to be Bavarians and not Saxons, I wonder what color the Saxon uniforms should be.

The sixth and final Beau Geste set I got from Treefog on Friday is BG 288 World War I Bulgarian Reservists. I bought a full band last year for Bob Walker and was struck by their Balkan-looking bear skin hats, their tobacco brown uniforms, and their leggings. These are first Bulgarians I have in my collection!

To add to my previous list - also add:

Field Marshall Romell - and a German WW2 Mounted Kettledrummer - purchased by post from Victor (vicnic) - which were remarkable value at around a third of their normal casting prices. If I wasn't off on my travels - I would seriously look at some of his latest offerings. Maybe when I get back - if they are still around? jb

Here is another Beau Geste set that I bought. I love the unusual uniforms of the Albanians, although I must admit that I wasn't too fond of the real live Albanians I have known in person. This is set BG 235 Fusiliers, Albanian Regiment, 1808.
A really beautiful and unusual set. Nice get. -- Al

Thank you Al, I agree that they are beautiful and unusual. Next year, I am going to start ordering a series of special, non-catalog sets from Hiriart featuring the Balkan War of 1912-14. More than 100 years later, the Montenegrins have very similar, but different uniforms to the 1808 Albanians. Here is the Osprey color plate they will be based on.
