The closest I got was having the ex-Mayor of Woking live across the road from me ^&grin I'll have you know I live in a very high class neighborhood :wink2:

Stay safe

Martyn
:)

Does not sound like my kind of neighbourhood. I am allergic to anything remotely "woke"^&grin

Absolutely, there is a reason for me to keep clicking on it. Do I need to justify to you what that is? It has always been the practice of this forum that there should be no politics. Why has thay changed? Why were some posts on this thread deleted for reasons being of political in nature while others which are clearly political continue to roll on. I would so love to comment here but I will not. Just like everything else this year people will spew things and turn things how they want and offer their monday morning quarterback opinions as fact. Unless you are coming with actual research and valid facts then spare me the high and almighty opinions. All I have to say is god rest officer Sicknicks soul. He paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting the Constitution of the United States. Make no mistake though he wasnt the only officer protecting the constitution. To suggest the riots during the summer were not a well organized thought out plan unlike the DC incident is just naive. The incidents during the summer were direct attacks on economy, infrastructure and government.

I will be more then happy to have a civil private discussion with you on how the acts during the summer were just as ****ing as the horrendous incident in D.C. and that ALL parties should be held responsible for their actions.

You make very good points. I think most people on here agree with you on many fronts. I do believe that certain events that have happened spark peoples thoughts more than others and sometimes one thing brings it all to a head. The solution needs to be united.

But gentleman as I suggested, this has been a fair discussion, but it honestly doesn't have a place on this forum. We have creeped from condemnation of lawlessness to opinion and that is going to lead to argument. Bottom line is bad behavior continues to breed bad behavior and I believe all of us agree that needs to change.

I would suggest we move on to bigger and brighter things.

I think the takeaway here is that the establishment politicians in both parties have failed us. They are corrupt and will say or do anything in their interest at that moment and exactly the opposite the next day. Many people are looking for another option but the wall of corruption and power has made that impossible. Trump was chewed up and spit out by the old establishment forces in the media and politics including many republicans who viewed him as a threat to their power base. So there is a lot of pent up anger with no outlet. To dismiss this anger as the product of "conspiracies" and crazy people is to misinterpret what is going on. Some nuts are caught up in the desire for change but most are average Americans who are not crazy, racist, or violent. Just tired of being lied too. The old establishment hacks will be back in power soon but there is a change coming in the near future.

I would certainly concur with your Dad’s thinking. A wise man. I'm sure you would have made a great cop, but the hobby would be lesser for it.

Thank you so much for the kind words.

This will be my last post in this thread.

I was informed earlier today by a long time customer that due to comments I've made in this thread, he no longer wishes to buy from me, which just proves the old expression, there are two things you never, ever discuss, religion and politics.

I crossed the line, so I paid the price.

Ok, carry on.

It's a disturbing and dangerous trend to censor and punish people for expressing contrary views. Much of the anger in this country derives from the fact that many people feel powerless. Now they are being told they don't have the freedom to express their views on social media and that they will be boycotted for any dissent. It is Orwellian and frightening. Don't be bullied into silence.

George,
That is sad to hear. I have drafted three posts I was thinking to post here but deleted before doing so. I have very strong thoughts on what has happened but I know if I posted them it would only irritate some members. However not going to change anybody's mind other than possibly cause an argument. What happens to the USA is of great importance to other countries such as Oz, UK and NZ for obvious reasons. We may not live there but we wish your country to succeed.

Those who did not support or like Trump know he is on his way out and are no doubt happy about it.

Now they have Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer, AOC and the Squad, Stallwell and one of my favourites Maxine Waters.

At the end of the day everybody here wants the best for the USA. Hopefully the new team are an improvement and can unite the country.

George...

I feel that might be a little petty...
to be discriminated for your opinion...
hopefully you and this person can make amends...

Particularly as Georges comments were condemning both sides of violence that have happened in the past year. The hypocrisy and double standards of the media and certain politicians over events last year and the Capitol non coup are simply amazing to see.

You know the Country is divided when it affects our little toy soldier world.

All,

George we have never met, but I consider you a man of honor, truth, wit, humility and wisdom. Whoever that customer may be I hope he reads a little deeper in your posts and then maybe he will realize he is dealing with one of the best of Boston. You crossed no line kind sir...you never have and never will. Your not wired like that.

The only line you crossed was sticking up for your "De-flate gate" quarter back, but that's another story. And maybe the "civil-war era" post office lady. But, no harm no foul. Your a stand up guy...PERIOD.

TD, I love your new avatar. "AYE, AYE, AYE" I heard a rap song the other day on the radio who sampled that piece. Now rappers are sampling Ozzy?

We will get passed this episode, but its unfathomable that lives have to be lost in order to get there. Its been a terrible year and I wake up every morning looking to the stars for a better day. I love my country, served it, missed it when I was overseas and when I pass one day a flag will drape my coffin like my family and forefathers before me. However, my pride in my country is no different from anyone else who loves their homeland. Like I said before, if I could sprinkle the dust of peace, harmony, humanity, love, respect and admiration for each other I would. Until then, I deliver a kind word to everyone I meet and if they are not happy in their work or life maybe just maybe my salutation will make their day or positively change their the trajectory of their day.

Thats all I can do. I have no power to take back what has happened to us as a Nation and as a world. The only super power I have, which I teach to my children and those around me is kindness, respect, tolerance and of course love. There are others in the world who teach the opposite and thats fine, but I believe in my heart of hearts that love will always conquer hate.

Yup, there is a rap song that samples it, I have it on MP3 somewhere it is titled - Let's Go by Trick Daddy, pretty good song and Ozz also had a duet with Busta Rhymes This Means War that featured Iron Man. Definitely a more fun discussion!!

George,

I'm afraid you've become a victim of the intolerant cancel culture. If one's views aren't aligned with theirs you must be discarded, and there is no room for discussion. Your honor remains intact though, and I'm sure you'll pick up a new customer to take the place of the one you lost. It's funny how they had to make a statement of their action and tell you they won't be buying from you anymore rather than just fading away. It's like a little kid trying to hurt you, much like many of the politicians of today.

For what it's worth, you have my support.

Well said John. George is a good friend of mine, and a stand up guy, as are you. I consider all of the members of this forum friends. As friends, we should be able to respect each other's opinions, regardless of whether we agree with them. I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who said, I may disagree with your opinion, but I will fight for your right to express it (paraphrasing). I certainly disagree with many of the opinions expressed on this forum on many subjects, but if, on rare occasions, I was upset by them, I explained my reasons and tried to calm the circumstances. I've seen many others on this forum, including Tom Dubel, Rich, Toddy, to name a few, take a similar approach, calming, rather than stirring the pot. I think those choosing to participate in this thread need only remember that we are friends, and treat each other with the respect and courtesy due to friends, and we can discuss this historical event without rancor. It will indeed be a sad day when divergent opinions preclude friendship.

Well said Joe.

Since I started this thread I would like to close with the following comments.
I did not intend to start a political debate or to justify one form of violence over another.
I have always denounced violence from any and all political and social protestors.

For me this was an historical event that had as much relevance as discussing Covid and Pearl Harbor.
An insurrection against our government and Democracy by trying to overturn our election, threaten
our legislators and attack and vandalize our Capital. I have watched the videos of the mob and am disgusted.

I was also trying to explain to our international forum members that this was not representative of all Americans.
I was fortunate to have founded a company that grew into an international operation with offices throughout Asia
and Europe. I have traveled throughout the United States and around the world and still maintain many
friendships with associates and ex-employees.

On Wednesday night I received calls from my ex-employees and associates in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore.
They were in shock and asked me if there is a revolution going on in America. They were concerned that our Democracy
was in serious danger.
On Thursday morning I received calls from my relatives in the UK and former associates in Germany, Italy and Denmark.
They too were shocked and worried about what was going on with the insurrection and overturning of our Election.
Would the United States still be strong enough and resolved to counter countries like Russia and China.

Yes there were reactions to our racial unrest and the rioting over the summer but nothing compared to what they saw
on Wednesday.

Every country has their problems but we are looked at differently since we are the leading super power. That doesn't make
us better just in a position to have more influence and clout.

We know that dictatorships around the world are using these events as propaganda. We know that China, Russia, Iran and
North Korea among others are showing these videos of the mob all day long and disparaging our Democracy and our leadership
role in the world.
There is no equivocation to how this affects our standing in the world and how it bolsters our enemies.

So without deflecting, rationalizing and making excuses we need to come together and condemn these actions unequivocally
because the United States needs the confidence of our allies and the respect and fear from out enemies. We cannot fight terrorism and
autocratic regimes alone.

I think its time to move on.

Very sorry to hear that mate and equally disappointed that person felt the need to inform you of their decision. In that sense I would agree with Mike. Petty.

In saying that you have my support and even though I may not be a customer as such, next time I'm in the US I'll definitely pop in and shout ya a beer or three. :salute::

not picking sides...
just looking for justice...
some good news...
in my opinion...

over 50 demonstrators that entered the White House premises...
have already been arrested and charged with various crimes...

among them...3 notables...

Jacob Chansley..."Buffalo Head Guy"

Adam Johnson...the guy who stole Pelosi's podium...

and Derrick Evans...a member of the West Virginia Republican House of Delegates...who has now resigned his position...

16 different people were charged with federal crimes...
another 40 charged with lesser crimes...

if convicted of a federal crime...
you must serve 85% of your sentence...

there will be consequences for your actions...
