Joe...thank you for your caring comments!

Yw Mike,
There's just nothing better for a kid than when an adult devotes time and attention like your Aunt Betty did. And when they do so as if you were their own, well that's a very special person.

Joe...

this is getting kind of weird...
she was originally tested...
as there were other infected people at the care home where she was staying...
and the test was positive...

she was moved to a local hospital and was tested again...
as she was asymptomatic...insisting she was fine...

according to the second test...
she is definitely positive...
but is still asymptomatic...
she has no symptoms...

go figure...
so far...
my 94 year old aunt is doing fine...
developing no symptoms yet...
but I have heard from doctors on tv...
that is does happen to some people...

Mike,
I'm so happy to hear she is asymptomatic!:smile2: I'm praying she stays that way. 25 to 50% of people infected with the virus are asymptomatic. Thanks for the uplifting news! Joe

Joe...ty...is that true?
25-50% show no symptoms?

There is no conclusive number but per Dr. Fauci it could be between 25 and 50%. That’s why everybody needs to wear masks when they go out and the whole country tested: an asymptomatic person could spread the disease to others.

well...if you contract the virus...and are asymptomatic through your tenure with the virus...
after the virus runs it's course (2-3 weeks)...and leaves your body...
then it seems logical to me that you now healthy donor person that has the antibodies in your blood to help treat others...
25-50%...would be a large amount of donors...

does that make sense?

and I just assume that everybody has it and don't have any physical contact with anyone...no close proximity standing...absolutely no touching...stay home and wash your hands excessively...

Michael,

Here are a few articles on the subject. As Brad said there's nothing conclusive within (too soon for that), and I shouldn't have stated the numbers as fact. However, even if the asymptomatic infected are a lower percentage than estimated, they would have to drop dramatically from these lofty estimates to fall out of statistical significance. Joe

That does make sense Mike, but they're still trying to determine how long antibodies will even protect those who have already processed the infection.

So I guess you're saying that covid-19 will not cause heart trouble in those who survive it?

Joe

Well my stimulus arrived tonight. It might last me until Friday.

Governor Tony Evers announced yesterday that he was extending the "safer at home" lock down until May 26th. A second month of this will have awful consequences on so many levels both emotionally and economically. I am starting to believe that the "herd immunity" belief might be in our best interest.

There have been protests in Michigan,N.C. and Virginia with more being organized in Texas,Ohio,Kentucky,Missouri,Washington state, and Oregon.People aren't going to sit quietly and lose everything.22 million have now lost their jobs. It's doesn't help that a lot of these governors think that they are law onto themselves .Our governor said last night that he hadn't thought about the Bill of Rights,it was above his pay grade.Little weasel. Anyway you look at it the virus WILL go through the whole population sooner or later.

Martyn,

Thank you for the great story about Captain Tom! At 99 years old, he is still demonstrating why they were, and are, the greatest generation.:salute::

They just ordered people to start wearing masks in PA when they are going into a building. This after initially discouraging people from wearing masks because they are of questionable value. Everyone now looks like Claude Rains in the original Invisible Man movie.

Today the San Antonio, TX Mayor ordered everyone to wear face masks in public or be subject to $1,000 fine.

The number of infections and death in our city is considered light and we've been in quarantine for at least 3 weeks.

Is this new order from the mayor extreme?

Imagine if there this was "Ebola" or the "Black Plague".

Saving lives at any cost is most important thing, right? The safe bet is waiting for 18 months for a vaccine tested/ certified and fully deployed.

However, can we wait?

I wonder what the sentiment will be in 6 months when the consequences to America's economy is quantified and dependence on State & Federal funds quasi permanent?

Has anyone estimated the cost in lives resulting from an economic collapse?

How much does that matter?

Thank God I'm not the President or a Governor, because "Monday Morning Quarterback" in the press will judge them either way.

It's going to take courageous leadership to make the tough "life & death" decision.

Am I heartless even bringing this up?

In the Bridge of Spies movie, Tom Hanks rescues the U2 pilot and are flying back to the USA. The CIA agent with them was disgusted that the pilot didn't kill himself. The pilot is pleading with Hanks. I didn't squeal. You got to believe me! Hank replies, the important thing is, you know you didn't squeal.
