My JJD Inter-War Aviation Collection (6 Viewers)

Moe . . . . Here are a couple of pics using the photo you sent me. I think I'll take the photo to a print shop and have it printed on a larger mat. The best I can do here is an 8.5 x 11 and that cuts off some of the photo. Thanks again for the photo its really ^&cool

Mike, you can divide that pic into parts with MS Paint, print out the pieces, and then piece them back together on your backboard.

I am not familiar with MS Paint . . . . Having trouble finding it on my computer if it even exists on it . . . . ^&confuse

I believe I have found it . . . . Never used it before so I will have to play around with it . . . . this will be a learning experience . . . .

If it's a Windows PC, it's got Paint on it. Easiest way to find it is to RIGHT CLICK on the JPG. A menu will pop up. From the menu, select OPEN WITH. A list of programs will appear, one of which is PAINT. Inside of Paint, you'd just copy half of my pic into a new file for printing. Then copy the other half into yet another file for a second print job. Put another way, what I'm suggesting is creating two graphics files out of the one that I posted above. Print them both out, and you're good to go.

What program do you normally view pics with? I ask because some of them will allow you to edit images.

Looks like we were typing on each other's post. Glad you found Paint.:D

I'm sure that Mike has his wallpaper put together by now. However, if anyone else is interested, I've cut the image into two parts so that it can be output on a small printer and then patched together. There may be a little work with scissors here, but nothing too severe:

There will be an overlap, but simply treat it the way that you would when hanging wallpaper in your home.

Thanks Moe for the added photos. I like the addition of the Japanese score board . . . Here's what I have been able to do so far . . . . The backdrop used in these photos is 17-inches x 11-inches splilced together . . . .

Mike, that looks terrific. You've had a look at the initial output of deck crew in Jenkins promo pics. I think that they'll look awesome with your setup. It'll be almost as though you've plugged in the sets as replacements for the Hellcat and crew that I edited out of the original image.

Thanks Moe . . . . . Still a work in progress but it's getting there . . . . Rumor has it that John will be releasing an iconic carrier plane before the Corsair. I am hoping for a Hellcat, but for some reason I have a gut feeling that its going to be a Wildcat . . . . either one would make me happy . . .

Hey Mike, I found an interesting "inspiration pic:"

Enterprise 1942.jpg

And edited up a photo of a destroyer to use as the background:

What ya think?

BTW, the file hosting service reduced the size. I can get you the large version, but that really will be a job for a print shop!:wink2:

And if you need a mat for your "carriers," this outfit sells a variety of sizes in urethane:

Great photo. Love the SBD's in early war colors. Hope to see JJD do a Dauntless in these colors. -- Al

Nice photos of the time can escorts . . . . The ocean "gaming mat" is very interesting. The web site shows that it can be as big as 4' x 6' . . . . Would easily fit the table top with a little trimming. I Should be getting IWA-11, IWA-300, and IWA-400 delivered to the house on Monday or Tuesday . . . .
:smile2: Mike

This afternoon JJD IWA-11 (Right Wing Man, Section 4, Fighter Squadron Six) landed on my doorstep along with SARA deck plates IWA-300 and IWA-400. The additional deck plates certainly provide a nicer display area . . . .

Thank you.

Really sharp looking display, Moe. RW looks very nice. My section leader due tomorrow and fingers are crossed.:wink2: -- Al

Thank you.

Thanks Ivanhoe . . . . It will really start getting "neat" when JJD releases the deck crew figures that service the airplanes. I have IWA-12 on order (Left Wing Man) and plan on getting another IWA-300 and IWA-400 to finish off the carrier deck display area.
