The Abenaki had been tracking the horse and rider for over an hour-the tracks also told them the horse was lame. But in the thick undergrowth the trail had suddenly gone cold

The war party split and began to backtrack to pick up the rider's trail.

The trapper's horse had managed to carry him across the river only to collapse on the far bank. He knew by the sounds of the forest he was being tracked and tried to quiet the injured horse.

Suddenly the forest sounded with a shrill birdlike sound

The rest of the Abenaki party immediately knew the meaning and hurried toward the area of the call

Not only had they found the tracks.............

....they had also found their quarry. The trapper reached for his muskets

The Abenaki moved in for the kill..........

Me thinks the trapper is in deep do-do. Excellent, as usual, Bob. I just love that river bank scenery. -- Al

As usual, Bob leaves us wanting more. This is my favorite continuing story. I know he is UK Reb and all that but this is the best (in my humble opinion of course).

Left us hanging Bob but I'm sure you know I'm looking forward to the tale continuing. Once again a story well told and beautifully staged.......Joe{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Thanks guys I'm pleased you like the change of era-Always did like those JJD Injuns which are now rare as hens teeth to pick up this side of the pond.

Al as Johnny Cash used to say "You're a good man to ride the river with" ;)

Bob

Bob, great stuff as usual. Will the trapper get out of this little fix {eek3}

Bob, your photographic skills and story telling genious is always a pleasure for me to view and read. Once again, very well done . . . .
:smile2: Mike

You did a terrific job with everything. This was very enjoyable.

This has been around for four years and I just stumbled onto it tonight....{eek3}...that was a very entertaining 12 pages of photos and storytelling...thank you Bob for the well staged and photographed FIW story of the escape from St. Francis...I had no idea you collected Conte and JJD Rangers and Indians...well done...especially the terrain...I hope it continues...

Great scenics and storyline. Looking fwd to the next installment. Doesn't look so good for our friend the trapper. Chris

Love it Bob, looking forward to the next instalment {bravo}}

Cheers

On reflection this is a better shot

Sarah's menfolk had been gonna huntin' for some considerable time when the dogs began growlin'. If it was Pa & Bro returning the hounds wouldn't have murmered.

Hell she thought it could be problems with those darn neighbours again......
